From Dawn to Decadence
Jacques Barzun
The Folio Society, 2015
Hardback – two volumes. Publisher’s grey-silver cloth with black decoration; titles in orange to spine and upper board; silver-grey endpapers; head and tail bands. In an illustrated papered slipcase with black papered ends. pp [i]-xxxiii, [xxxiv], [1]-523; [i]-x, [524]-978, plus b/w and colour plates. Size: 10 x 7 inches approx. (252mm x 176mm).
Note: When first published the first volume was found to contain cross-referencing errors in the text. These are essentially page numbers within the text with > or < to indicate moving forward or back to the relevant page, eg. (558>) and (<461).
Once Folio were aware of the problem they quickly withdrew the title from sale and ordered a reprint of volume one. Customers who had already received the books prior to withdrawal were sent the new printing and told to dispose of the defective volume as they saw fit. New customers were sold the two volume set with the revised volume one.
It should be noted there is no indication in the revised volume to distinguish it other than to recognise the corrections.
